Sonoma Wine Tourhttp://sactrips.ticketleap.com/sonoma/dates/Jun-02-2013_at_0900AM2013-06-02T09:00:00-07:002013-06-02T18:00:00-07:00Sonoma Wine Tour
Sunday June 2, 2013
Wine Country doesn't get more real than Sonoma Valley, whose rich soils mark the birthplace of California's wine industry. Cradled between the Mayacamas and the Sonoma Mountain ranges, Sonoma Valley encompasses a rolling patchwork of vineyards, quaint farms and 13,000 acres of scenic parkland. In the center of town, the eight-acre Sonoma Plaza is a National Historic Landmark, strewn with sprawling shade trees and bordered by carefully preserved adobe buildings.
Since 1982, Kendall-Jackson has been one of the world's favorite California wines. Founded by Jess Jackson, Kendall-Jackson's family culture is built on the time-honored principles of hard work, integrity, an uncompromising desire for quality, and the long-term stewardship of the land.
Sonoma Plaza offers the picture-perfect start to your adventures. It's a pedestrian paradise, so ditch the car keys and discover Real Wine Country on foot or bicycle. The Plaza's old adobe storefronts, meandering alleyways, sunlit courtyards and historic landmarks hum with an eclectic mix of restaurants, hotels, tasting rooms, cafes, artisan boutiques, galleries—even a vintage movie house. As for the nature lover, wildflower hikes and stunning hilltop vistas abound within just a short distance. Anchoring it all is the tranquil Plaza itself, whose vast green stretches of lawn and immense tree canopy create a lush setting for picnics, cultural activities and weekly farmers markets.
Cline Cellars
In the latter part of the 1800s, Oakley, Contra Costa County was a booming farming community with thousands of acres of orchards and healthy vineyards. Fred Cline's maternal grandfather, Valeriano Jacuzzi of pump and spa fame, called this place home. On summer visits to his grandparents, Fred learned both the love of agricultural life and the mysteries of vinifying grapes into wine. These lessons led Fred to obtain a degree in Agriculture Management from U.C. Davis. In 1982, with an inheritance from his grandfather, Fred founded Cline Cellars near Oakley, California. Here, he preserved and restored many ancient vine sites to their rightful reign as premier California wine lands.
In 1991, Fred and his wife Nancy relocated the winery from Oakley to the Carneros region of Sonoma County on a historic 350-acre estate with new vineyards and facilities. While much of the cool Carneros region is planted to Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Merlot, Fred pioneered the planting of Rhône varietals including Syrah, Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne.
Fred's innovation and experimentation led to producing rich, distinctive Rhône-style wines and intense, flavorful Zinfandels for which he has garnered enormous acclaim. In 2007, our 2004 Sonoma Zinfandel was rated 91 pts by the Wine Spectator, the 2004 Bridgehead Zinfandel was rated 90 pts, and the 2004 Ancient Vines Mourvèdre was named, "One of the top 100 values of the Year" by Wine & Spirits, June 2007 issue.

Apple Hill Adventure (Wineries-Brewery-Downtown Placerville)http://sactrips.ticketleap.com/applehill/dates/Jun-23-2013_at_0900AM2013-06-23T09:00:00-07:002013-06-23T18:00:00-07:00Apple Hill’s soil and climate produce premium fruits. Here, you’ll find innovative, family-run wineries working at their own pace, making small lots of wines from diverse grapes.
Boeger WineryIn its three decades, Boeger Winery has remained committed to only one standard—quality. You’ll taste this in their wines. The winery grows 90 percent of their own grapes and has stayed small enough to allow full attention to the details of winemaking. Boeger pushes the boundaries of winemaking as well, producing Merlot, when it was virtually unheard of in California. Today Boeger pioneers innovative blends and brings new and uncommon varietals to the market place.
Placerville is a charming California "gold rush" town named after the placer gold deposits found in its’ river beds and hills in the late 1840’s. The City of Placerville is centrally located between Sacramento, the State capitol, and South Lake Tahoe, world- famous recreation center. Situated above the fog line and below the snow line, Placerville boasts an ideal climate with four distinct seasons. Accessibility to Placerville is via State Highway 49 and U.S. Highway 50, along one of the most traveled corridors in California. Placerville’s treasured heritage is reflected in the historical, nineteenth century architecture of it’s downtown core. In addition, Placerville is the County seat and the center of financial, commercial, civic, and Government activity.
Jodar Winery & VineyardsOverlooking the sheer American River Canyon below, the steeply terraced Jodar vineyard is located near the edge of El Dorado National Forest at 2,400 feet elevation. The Jodar family literally blasted the vineyard from the granite hillside in 1985 to launch a journey, which is still in progress. In the spring of 1986 the task of carving terraces in the steep and rocky terrain was completed, and a small army of friends and relatives was recruited to plant the first 4,200 vines.
Jodar Winery melds the components of a sumptuous Sierra foothills location and respect for Mother Nature together with a passion for great wine making
The desire to taste the Jodar family's devotion to the crush of the grape has resulted in a favorite day trip for Sacramentans for almost two decades. It is a short drive north into El Dorado County's famed apple growing region to savor their award winning wines like Barbera, Sangiovese and Cab Franc.
Jack Russell Brewing Company, located in the Sierra Foothills of California, is modeled after an English Farm Brewery. Located near the small town of Camino, California, midway between Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe, the beautiful rural setting of the brewery invites visitors to the area to stop and enjoy the fresh ales and fresh air.

AMADOR WINE TOUR w/ Picnic Lunch only $49 per personhttp://sactrips.ticketleap.com/amador/dates/Jul-07-2013_at_0900AM2013-07-07T09:00:00-07:002013-07-07T17:30:00-07:00Amador County is renowned for producing California's finest zinfandels, some of them crafted from 19th-century vines. In recent years, Amador vintners have also begun producing delicious wines from Rhône Valley and Italian varietals, including syrah, viognier, barbera and sangiovese. Along with Amador's prized zinfandels, these wines have earned enthusiastic praise from critics and wine lovers worldwide. Located in the western foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in central California, Amador County boasts 2,700 acres of wine grapes - - a high percentage of which are farmed organically - - and 25 wineries.
The majority of the wineries are in the northern part of the county in the Shenandoah Valley and Fiddletown appellations. In these areas, vines are planted almost exclusively on rolling hillsides ranging from 1,200 to 2,000 feet in elevation. The moderately dense soils effectively retain Amador's 36 to 38 inches of annual rainfall, enabling most growers to dry-farm their vineyards, which contributes to low crop yields. Today, where gold once reigned, twenty-five wineries produce a new treasure: the superb wines which have earned Amador County international recognition.
Sobon Estate winery started in 1989 when Leon and Shirley Sobon bought each other a second winery for their 30th wedding anniversary present. They purchased the historic D'Agostini Winery, one of the oldest in the state. This winery has been designated as California State Historic Landmark #762.
This site was chosen not only for its historical winery, but also for its vineyards and vineyard land. The old vine Zinfandel was retained, and the other vineyards replanted with the best varieties and clones. The Sobon Estate label launched the estate line of wines for the Sobon Family -- the best wines from their own grapes. These include Rhone varietals, vineyard designated Zinfandels, and dessert wines.
Karmere (Car-MARE) is a family-owned and operated winery producing some of Amador's boldest red wines. Evoking a French chateau, the tasting room overlooks the winery – which resembles an old church, complete with bell towers – and carefully groomed, Shenandoah Valley estate vineyards, which are planted to barbera, syrah, zinfandel and nebbiolo. Visitors to the tasting room can enjoy Karmere’s gardens and picnic area, which afford wonderful views of the surrounding valley. Enjoy lunch at Karmere.
Our last stop will be at Nine Gables Vineyard and Winery. Committed to making wines in small batch fermentation with a hands-on, handcrafted approach. Better flavors come from fermenting the grapes in small batches and hand-punching them many times a day for maximum extraction of flavors, colors and aromas. The wine is then stored for 18 months in Oak barrels. Stainless steel tanks at Nine Gables are used mostly for blending and storing wines.
Cost: $49 per person, includes round-trip transportation, tasting and lunch.

That world famous trio includes the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and the site of the World Trade Center — “Ground Zero,” where the city and the nation’s hearts were broken on September 11, 2001.

Licensed New York City tour guides will tell you about the neighborhoods, sites and attractions made famous in song, story, film and television. Hop off and explore the legendary artists and writers’ quarter, Greenwich Village, or have authentic cuisine in Little Italy or Chinatown, or see the neighborhood that was the first home to wave after wave of immigrants making this diverse city truly the World’s Capitol.
View the most famous neighborhoods, attractions and places of interest: Times Square, Madison Square Garden, Macy’s, Empire State Building, SoHo, Chinatown, Little Italy, Site of the World Trade Center, Wall Street, Financial District, Battery Park South Street Seaport, Lower East Side, United Nations, Rockefeller Center, Carnegie Hall, Broadway Theatre District and much more.

The green oasis that occupies 20% of Manhattan. The headquarters of the largest media conglomerate. Millionaires Row. Museum Mile. All of these places and more may be found, discovered and enjoyed on City Sights’ Uptown Treasures + Harlem tour.
This hop-on/hop-off tour will take you by Lincoln Center, home to the Metropolitan Opera House — the largest in the world and home to the oldest symphony orchestra in the United States and 10 other major performing arts companies. Licensed New York City tour guides will point out architectural masterpieces, homes of the rich and famous, cultural institutions, remarkable houses of worship, landmarks of entertainment and sports and that wonderful “green oasis” known as Central Park as well as one of the world’s most famous neighborhoods, Harlem.

Brooklyn has played an important part in the history of not only New York City but of the entire nation. As we enter our most populous borough, you will see the Brooklyn Bridge, which has connected Manhattan and Brooklyn since 1883. Our licensed guides will show you the very first vehicular parkway built in the United States, the grandest of triumphal arches, the home of one of the world’s greatest Egyptology collections, the site of a revolution in sports and sites connected to major events in the American Revolution and the birth of our nation.
In addition to that lovely oasis Prospect Park, you will see elegant mansions, soaring houses of worship and notable cultural institutions.
